I am Joel Brown and this is how I developed the ability to easily play all my favorite popular music by ear by this PROVEN chord piano method!
In July 2007 I decided that I had enough and that I needed to learn to play an instrument.
Enough of what?
- Not being able to find a teacher that I could afford.
- Nor teachers that could fit into my schedule.

For a few weeks I was developing but after a while I hit a ceiling as I was just learning isolated chord progressions or songs without understanding how to put these chords together to be able to play any song naturally by ear.
It was at this point I came across a company that produced several products that claimed that people who used them were playing chord piano by ear in weeks! I could not believe it and was very sceptical but fortunately as they have great prices, I purchased one of their DVD’s.
In one week I noticed the transformation! I was able to identify patterns and make sense of the chord progressions I was hearing in most of the music I had grown to know and love over the years.

In the following weeks I improved so drastically I shocked my family and friends. I was playing the songs I had loved over the years while singing. Now here is the most amazing thing, I am not able to read sheet music at all! This is something that I am currently learning but this course does not require this skill as a prerequisite.

4 Steps to Learning How to Play Any Song by the Chord Piano Method
1. Determining the melody – Melodies determine what chords will be played. If you can use your ear to figure out what notes are being played in the melody, you are 1/4 on your way to learning a song! More resources on learning how to determine melodies
· 2. Harmonizing the melody – Once you have figured out the melody (using some of my techniques on the resource page), it is time to harmonize it. This is simply choosing various chords to accompany the melody. There are several techniques and tricks to doing this. More resources on learning how to harmonize melodies
· 3. Altering Chords – This is the best part! Now that you have strategically figured out the melody to a song and have harmonized it, altering your chords to produce certain sounds is the next step. If you were playing gospel music, you would alter your chords differently than if you were playing classical or country music. More resources on altering chords
· 4. Listening – After you have determined the melody, harmonized the melody, and altered some of your chords, there are various techniques you can use to make sure that your song sounds right. More resources on listening techniques.
